Client Brief: Welcome Break’s planning department approached Red Spot with the challenge of designing a security system that would satisfy the requirements of achieving Park Mark, the safer parking scheme for the new Rothwell A14 Truck Stop. With over 200 HGV parking spaces, bar, gym, restaurant, showers, laundry, media lounge and fuel station on a 15 acre site, the design and installation of the security systems was the responsibility of our in-house team. A full IP based CCTV system was chosen for the site along with smart tracking PTZ cameras, ANPR and fixed lens cameras, the backbone of the system was Multi-Mode OM4 fibre and Ubiquiti layer 2 managed switches. A total of 7 communications racks were installed across the site. We were also tasked with installing IP intercoms, automated barriers up to 8m in length, access control, fire detection, intruder alarm and audio visual to the media lounge and game zone. For the new Welcome Break Corley Services Northbound HGV park extension our team were once again and asked to design the security system and ensure that it would satisfy the planners requirements of a secure parking area and prevent the parking area being used outside the specified opening hours. Once again our team designed the security systems, utilising a mixture of Smart Tracking PTZ and fixed lens cameras. A comprehensive 3D design was produced and supplied to the planners as part of the planning application. In addition we had to ensure that the entry and exit lanes restricted access outside of the opening hours for the site, our solution provided BFT 8m fully LED lit barriers along with automated timers with manual override available from the main service area building. We coupled this barrier system with digital information signs strategically placed on the service slip road to give early warning of the open or closed status to HGV drivers.
